PSN Friends List Feature Wish List

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. So I thought I finally share it. I created a quite mock up image to help get my idea across.

Right now the friends list is maxed at 100 I think, which is good. But if you do have that many friends. It’s hard to remember who everyone is, what games you play together, etc.

As you can see in the image above there is a notes section to help you remember that person. The notes will also show in the master friends list when you highlight that person.

Then a “Games Played Together” section which will automatically fill in games you have played with that person with the most recent at the front. When you highlight the game icon a small pop-up will show the name of the game. It will show all the games ever played together, so if the list gets longer that the profile box, you’ll need to press the right or left directional button to scroll threw them.

When in that section you press the R1 button to go the next tab, and this will show which games your friend are playing at the moment. This should update automatically as well, say all the games played in the last month. With the most recent game listed first. Same type of layout too.

The last tab I’m not sure, any ideas? Maybe they can list future games they are thinking about buying. Or maybe a link to your own personal forum that’s contained in the XMB that only your approved friends can post in.

How do you think the friends list could be improved?

Free Explosive Metal Gear Online DLC next week!

I know this game isn’t popular on this blog, but I still love it. Anyway it will be a automatic update on Tuesday, January 27th. It’s called Bomb Mission and it’s free!

The mechanics in Bomb Mission are pretty simple. If you’re on the offense party, you got to find the bomb that’s randomly placed in the map and detonate it within the time limit. Once the bomb is activated for detonation, you have to protect it and wait for it to explode (heh, suicide bombing, what next?).

As for the defensive team, the goal is to defuse the bomb with some coolant and fend off the opposing party from the base.

That actually sounds very fun, can’t wait to try it out :)

Being able to hold your own tournaments sounds great. All the things I’ve heard about the multiplayer have been positive too. I wish the Killzone 2 demo had mulitplayer :)

Killzone 2 Advertising

Will Sony do some massive advertising with Killzone 2? A superbowl ad would be perfect, but I doubt they would do that. But they need to heavily market this game! I was talking to a couple PS3 friends at work and they have never heard of Killzone 2. Not everyone stays up to date with the latest PS3 news like we do.

The hype for the game is not enough to sell tons of copies, it needs advertising! I’m hoping the Killzone 2 ads will start in early February at least.

They aren’t even doing a special edition of Killzone 2, which is a shame. This was a official comment on the PlayStation Blog. Doesn’t Sony handle the collector’s or limited edition stuff?

There is no collector’s edition slated for Killzone 2. Guerrilla Games has put all of their effort into creating this masterpiece of a game, so we didn’t actively pursue a CE.

Here is more Killzone 2 gifs to enjoy :)

New Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion Trailer

Wow, great trailer. Now the long wait until Autumn 09 :( I wish this was in the Arcades near me, so I could at least try it. I still wish it was PS3 only but … oh well. As long as it doesn’t effect the PS3 version, I guess it’s ok.

! Metal Gear Online Demo !

If you don’t have MGS4 and want to try MGO, now is your chance! It’s under new demos on the PlayStation Store. I personally love the game. The game has a LOT of depth to it. A lot of different skills, you can earn points to buy new things for your character. Actually the main games I play at the moment are MGO and LittleBigPlanet. If your in the North American MGO server, add me. I’m xBerserker on MGO. Sadly the MGO servers are region locked though :(

This game does have a learning curve, so give it some time!. Some tips for you:

* Go into the training area, and tweak your settings until your happy with them
* Try some CQC in training
* Turn auto-aim off
* Aim in 3rd person view and try to go for the head shot

This is not a run and gun game! Don’t run around in the open very long, you’ll regret it. This is a squad / tactical shooter. Some of the new game modes in the MEME Expansion are great. Stealth Death Match is very fun, everyone has stealth enabled. May sound boring, but the level actually starts to constrict to a very small circle. So it forces everyone to come together. And the central point is random.

Now there is a MGO Tournament that happens every weekend around 1900 and 2200. You can earn items for your character if you win 1st or 2nd place. The items can only be earned in Tournaments. Be sure to check out Survival, the days it happens change. Right now I think it’s Wednesday - Friday night.

I know their is a lot of hate surrounding MGO, but I don’t get it. It’s very fun, yes it’s very unique, but that’s why I love it. What other game can you run around in cardboard boxes and place adult magazines to “distract” your enemies. There is even “man launchers” at least that’s what I call it, lol.

Yes the Konami ID is a drag, I wish it was integrated into the PSN. But after you set it up you never have to remember you log in really. It remembers it for you. The last survey I took about the game asked about different payment methods for expansion packs. One option was the PSN Wallet. So who knows, maybe PSN integration is coming? At least try the demo for a while before you knock it.

I’m not sure what modes are in the Metal Gear Online demo, so let us know.

Konami is also launching a contest around the MEME Expansion:

“Additionally, Metal Gear fans can now purchase Metal Gear Online - MEME Expansion and have the opportunity to win a limited edition, Metal Gear Online Happy New Year T-Shirt. MEME Expansion contains a vast amount of content including new maps, special characters, new skills, new customizable characters, funny avatar parts and more. 1,200 randomly selected players will win one of three different styled in-game shirts, which will be distributed on January 5th, 2009. Metal Gear Online is available for a SRP of $9.99 through MGOnline’s in-game shop. For more information please visit: http://www.konami.com.”
