Metal Gear Online Beta Info

The MGSO Beta will begin on April 21st, 2008 and go for about 2 weeks. To get in you need to pre-order the game. Not sure where honestly, it just says “all major retailers”. I did mine at EB Games but I’m going to double check on this April 1st to make sure they are park of the “pre-sell program”.

Another bonus you’ll get for pre-ordering is:

Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD, containing a Prologue that recaps the Metal Gear franchise, a 20th Anniversary retrospective, character bios for Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Solid Snake, plus a collection of international trailers of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

You’ll get a code in the bonus DVD and that code is only while supplies last. So run home as fast as possible and enter that code in, lol. Soon I have my MGSO fix :D I’ve been in Metal Gear Online withdrawal since the MGS3 Online servers where taken down.

MGS4 Release Date and Bundle

I have a friend attending Destination Playstation. He just sent me a text with some exciting info. MGS4 will be released on June 12, 2008. It will be bundled with a 80GB PS3 with a Dual Shock 3 as well. This will be great for those people that haven’t got a PS3 yet and want to jump in.

Side note for PSP Users:

There will be a Blood Red PSP bundled with God of War in June. Which is odd, because that game is out next week.

Home Beta gets huge update next week

The update will arrive next week and will include a lot of things. The user interface is better and graphics have been upgraded too. You can check who’s online from your friends list and you can tell if there just online or in Home.

But the most interesting part is the new Marketplace in the main square. Once your inside you can get clothes, furniture and other things. Maybe the PlayStation Store will be moved in there eventually? Also they are working on Game Launching, and some games work some don’t. But it’s a start. I hope there is a open Home beta soon.

Check out the full update below:

GDC08: PlayStation Eye Tank War Demo

Sony brought the PlayStation Eye Tank War demo to the Game Developer Convention. They have added turret support, and the option to add moving treads to your tank. I personally would buy this demo. I’ve always been a fan of the Eye Toy & PlayStation Eye.

In Game XMB … hints from Sony?

The photo below is from the Game Developers Conference. Is it a hint that it’s coming soon? Or just a joke? Either way I want that shirt, lol.

There are rumors that In Game XMB is finished and will arrive with the next firmware update. Future games coming out wlll support it, and past titles will receive a patch.

I mainly want In Game XMB for checking to see if my friends are online, what they are playing, check and write messages, etc. It would be nice to have access to the web browser in game as well.

I know my gf would like to have custom soundtracks in Toy Home, so I hope that happens as well :)

GDC08: Echochrome Gameplay

Another unique game coming to the PlayStation Network. In this game you must follow the five laws of perspective. I like puzzle games sometimes, so I may pick this up. I’m liking what I see so far :)

Top five Super Bowl commercials

I’m no advertising expert, nor am I a Super Bowl commercials aficionado of any sort. I’m just a guy who likes football and is vaguely aware that Apple’s “1984″ ad is kind of a big deal, MJ and Bird playing H-O-R-S-E appears to have happened a million years ago and a jorts-clad Cindy Crawford forcefully ushered me into young manhood.

Oh, and I watched every commercial break of the Giants’ historic upset in the hopes of providing you with the five best ads out of this year’s Super Bowl-sized buffet of crass commercialism. (Note: Anything for Salesgenie.com’s “business” or starring “comedian” Carlos Mencia need not apply.)

Each 30-second spot cost $2.7 million, but you can watch the most entertaining ones for free right down below, or hit Yahoo! Video to see the rest. You can also tell me what a know-nothing I am by sharing your picks and pans via the comments.

Honorable mentions: Doritos — “Mouse Trap,” Budweiser — “Beer Wagon Team,” Bud Light — “Wine Tasting Party,” E-Trade — “Baby,” GMC Yukon — “Hybrid Inspiration,” Planters — “Unibrow,” Vitamin Water — “Shaq Jockey,” NFL — “Chester Pitts” and Coke — “Political Party”

PS Eye VR application

This is pretty cool tech. Somebody has already done this with a Wii controller. Put this guy proved the PS3 can do it to. He used a PlayStation Eye and PS3 dev kit. He was even nice enough to release the code to the PS3 Developers Network. Hopefully we’ll see some cool games come out of this :) Imagine being able to peak around corners in FPS games or even MGS.
